Screengrab from the video

An angry mob outside the Jaipur court attacked the two killers involved in the murder of Udaipur tailor Kanhaiya Lal when they were brought for a hearing today.

Video footage of the incident shows people raining blows on the duo and trying to snatch them away from the police as they were about to leave the court premises.

But the policemen quickly put them into a waiting van and whisked them away from the crowd.

The two killers, Gos Mohammad and Riyaz had murdered the tailor at his shop in Udaipur with a cleaver. The duo also captured their barbaric act on camera and brazenly posted it on social media to brag that they had avenged an insult to Prophet Mohammed.

The tailor had been threatened several times over his social media posts in support of former BJP office-bearer Nupur Sharma, who has been suspended from the party for her comments against Prophet Muhammad.

The murder had triggered widespread protests in the town which has been placed under curfew.

The Centre has deputed a team of the National Investigation Agency to investigate the case as it seen as a terrorist attack.

Two more people, who were allegedly involved in a recce of Kanhaiya's shop,  were also arrested later as part of the conspiracy.

The four accused were presented at an National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Jaipur today. There were heavy police arrangements on the court premises and several lawyers shouted slogans like "Pakistan Murdabad" and "Kanhaiya ke hatyaron ko fansi do" (Hang Kanhaiya's killers).

The court granted the custody of the killers to the NIA till July 12.
