Video: Rajasthan cops overpower killers of Udaipur tailor on highway

The two killers involved in the brutal murder of a tailor in Rajasthan's Udaipur on Tuesday were attempting to escape on a motorcycle with their faces hidden under helmets when they ran into a police barricade on the outskirts of the city.

The video of the incident was tweeted by Congress social media coordinator Nitin Agrawal.

The two men sped the bike on a highway on the outskirts of Udaipur as they tried to escape, Rajsamand police chief Sudheer Chaudhary told news agency PTI.

The two killers, Gos Mohammad and Riyaz Akhtari, had walked into 48-year-old tailor Kanhaiya Lal’s shop posing as customers. However, while the tailor was taking the measurements of the man, he was struck on the neck with a meat cleaver by the killer and dropped dead on the spot. Meanwhile, the accomplice of the killer was filming the heinous crime on his smartphone.

The two had later posted the barbaric video of the murder on social media as proof that they had avenged the insult to Prophet Mohammed. In another video, the killers, bragged about the murder and issued a threat to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The tailor had been threatened several times over his social media posts in support of former BJP office-bearer Nupur Sharma, who has been suspended from the party for her comments against Prophet Muhammad.

The Union Home Ministry has dispatched a team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) officials to Udaipur as the case is being viewed as a terror attack.
