WATCH: Herd of wild elephants having fun at a waterhole in Rajaji Tiger Reserve

Screengrab from the video.

A video showing a herd of elephants frolicking in a newly-constructed waterhole at the Rajaji Tiger Reserve to beat the heat has gone viral on social media.

The video has been posted on Twitter by Indian Forest Service Officer Saket Badola with the caption: “An Elephant family having fun at a newly constructed waterhole in Rajaji Tiger Reserve. Life is simple if we don’t complicate it.”

Elephants are known to love water and enjoy showering by sucking water into their trunks and spraying it all over themselves. Afterwards, they often spray their skin with a protective coating of dust.

They are also known to dig deep holes in riverbeds during dry seasons, effectively creating mini-waterholes that other species also use.
