US destroyed tanks, Humvees, guns worth 100s of millions of dollars at CIA base in Kabul, say Taliban

Taliban said US personnel destroyed all equipment at the CIA operational camp in Kabul before the US withdrawal.

US soldiers burned and destroyed Humvees, armoured tanks and weapons worth hundreds of millions of dollars along with secret documents at the main operational centre of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in Kabul before leaving the area, the Taliban has said.

According to Tolo News, the Taliban on Monday opened to journalists the doors to what was the largest operational centre of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in Afghanistan.

The center, named “Eagle,” is located in Kabul’s Deh Sab area and is reportedly where US intelligence officers and Afghan NDS 01 forces were stationed. Now the camp is under the control of the Taliban.

The Taliban said they do not know the exact value of the destroyed equipment, but they estimate it was in hundreds of millions of dollars.

“They have destroyed anything that could have been used,” said Mawlawi Athnain, the commander of the camp.

Masab, a Taliban fighter who is now guarding the camp, said he was jailed at the camp for eight days in the past.

“I was arrested and I was here for eight nights. It was terrible,” Tolo News quoted him as saying.

Taliban forces stationed at the camp said they have not entered some rooms as they fear mines.

US soldiers reportedly destroyed military hardware and helicopters also at the Kabul airport before leaving.
