Video: Leopard enters house in Meerut then breaks through Forest Dept. net set up to capture him

There was panic in Meerut’s Pallavapuram residential locality in Uttar Pradesh   on Friday morning when a leopard entered a house. The Forest department struggled for 8 hours before they could finally tranquilize the leopard. 

The leopard first escaped from inside the house by breaking through the net set up by the forest department officials to catch the wild animal and hid in the bushes in a another plot after sprinting through the street and causing panic.

The forest department team put a net around the plot and finally managed to tranquilize it.

After the leopard was first spotted in in the morning. The police reached the spot and called the team of the forest department. The forest department laid siege to the entire house and set a trap to catch the leopard which did not work out.

Divisional forest officer (DFO) of Meerut, Rajesh Kumar said leopards inhabit sugarcane fields in the adjoining rural areas and come out for shelter after harvesting of sugarcane crops this time of year. He said that it is difficult to say from where the animal entered the city’s populated area.
