The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation is using the latest technology to make the journey of bus passengers in the State safe, secure, comfortable and hassle-free. Now passengers can use TSRTC’s recently launched TSRTC Gamyam, a mobile app that will enable passengers to track the arrival and departure times of buses and much more.

The tracking app will allow commuters to know about the exact timing of buses running on different routes and their arrival time at various stops across Telangana and nearby States where the service is available. The objective of this app is to provide the passengers the facility of planning their travel accordingly and avoid wasting time at bus stations.

The app with state-of-the-art features was launched at Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station in Hyderabad by V.C Sajjanar, Managing Director, TSRTC. In his tweet he wrote: “Currently we have provided a tracking facility for 4,170 buses of TSRTC. Tracking facility is available for Pushpak Airport and Metro Express services in Hyderabad. Similarly, this facility has been provided to all buses except Palle Velam in the districts. We are going to connect the tracking facility to all the other services from the month of October. Through the ‘Gayam’ app you can know which buses are available at which times from the starting point to the destination.”

The information about Expected Time of Arrival at the boarding stage and selected destination will allow people to plan their travel schedule in advance. It will go a long way in allowing people to plan their travel well to airports and railway stations for their onward journey.

Apart from timings, the passengers will also know about the details of the driver and conductor; track where the city bus is by entering its route number; and also know the same about long-distance services by providing the reservation number. The app also provides information about the nearest bus stops to one’s location.

The app has special features to make one’s journey secure especially for women, health emergencies, and accidents. Giving importance to safety of women passengers, it has Plug a Bus feature – available from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. — which is very useful for women travellers in areas where there are no bus stops at night. They can enter the details in the app which will make a green light appear automatically on the screen of their smartphone. When this light is shown towards the driver, he has to stop to pick up the woman passenger.

Besides this, in case of emergency there is a facility to contact the TSRTC call centre through SOS button and also other services as Dial 100, 108 have been integrated with it. With this facility, information can be given directly to the police from the app. Passengers can also report details of bus breakdown, medical assistance, road accidents, etc. through this app to help officials concerned take immediate and appropriate action.

Gamyam can be downloaded through Google Play Store or from the TSRTC official website www.tsrtc.telangana.gov.in for free. Available in Telugu and English, passengers don’t need to give any personal details in the app.
