Video: Cobra couple chills in pleasant weather at Patna

Cobra couple enjoy cool weather at Patna Zoo.

The Environment and Forests Secretary of the Bihar government Deepak Kumar Singh has shared a video of two Cobras enjoying the pleasant weather at the Patna Zoo.

“A pair of Indian Cobra enjoying cool weather at #Patna Zoo.With their threatening hoods and intimidating upright postures, they're considered among some of the most iconic snakes on the planet. Their elegance, prideful stance and venomous bite have made them both respected and feared,” IAS officer Singh wrote while sharing the video.

The Indian cobra inhabits a wide geographical range. It can be found in dense or open forests plains, in agricultural fields amid paddy and wheat crops, rocky terrain, wetlands, and it can even be found in heavily populated urban areas, such as villages and city outskirts, ranging from sea level to 2,000 metres (6,600 ft) in altitude. This species is absent from true desert regions.

The Indian cobra is often found in the vicinity of water. Preferred hiding locations are holes in embankments, tree hollows, termite mounds, rock piles and small mammal dens.
