Collective strength of the people for a good cause was on display recently. This came to the fore as people crowdfunded to help a Zomato delivery person in Rajasthan to buy a bike as he pedalled around on a bicycle in the blazing sun, supplying food items to customers on time!

On April 11 Aditya Sharma had posted the following Tweet: “Today my order got delivered to me on time and to my surprise, this time the delivery boy was on a bicycle. Today my city temperature is around 42 °C in this scorching heat of Rajasthan. He delivered my order on time.” Along with the message a picture was also posted.

The person was 31-year-old Durga Meena who had been a teacher for years and had lost his job due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In order to make a living, he opted to deliver food. He shared with Sharma that he wished to buy a bike for which he does not have the initial payment though he was ready to pay the EMIs.

Sharma started a crowdfunding campaign to raise Rs 75,000, the down payment for a bike for Meena. The response was spontaneous and overwhelming and within a day the amount was raised. Sharma later shared a picture of beaming Meena with his newly bought bike on Twitter.
