A 43-year-old man from Pune and his son both appeared for the Class X Maharashtra board examinations this year but interestingly, while the father passed the exam, his son failed.

Bhaskar Waghmare had to drop out of school after Class 7 as he had to take up a job to support his poor family. After a gap of 30 years he decided to resume studies to boost his job prospects. Since his son was preparing for the board exam all the books and study material were available in the house.

“I always wanted to study more, but could not do so earlier because of family responsibilities and to earn to sustain our livelihood," PTI news agency cited Waghmare, a resident of Babasaheb Ambedkar Dias Plot in Pune as saying.

He said after finishing his work every day he used to study for the exam in the evening along with his son.

Though Waghmare has a sense of satisfaction after having cleared the exam the results which were declared on Friday, he is also sad that his dear son failed in two papers.

But he says he will fully support his son in taking the supplementary exams, held for students who have failed in some subjects, and hopes the youngster will clear them.

Similarly, his son Sahil, while being quite happy about his father having passed the exam after having given up studies for so long, is said that he himself failed.

However, he is determined to go ahead and try again next time.
