COVID cases continue to surge, positivity rate goes up to 2.26%

India reported 7,584 fresh COVID cases in the last 24 hours, data released by the Union Health Ministry on Friday showed.</p>
<p>
The number of deaths recorded due to the disease on Thursday was put at 24. The number of active COVID-19 cases in the country increased to 36,267.</p>
<p>
The daily positivity rate has now gone up to 2.26 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate was at 1.50 per cent.</p>
<p>
As many as 3,35,050 tests were carried out in the last 24 hours.</p>
<p>
Meanwhile, the cumulative doses COVID-19 vaccine administered in the country so far has gone past the 194.76 crore mark.</p>
<p>
Over 3.49 crore first dose vaccines have been administered for the age group 12-14 years, the health ministry stated.</p>
