Another 1,100 flights were cancelled worldwide on Tuesday with airlines reporting facing staff shortages due to Cvoid-19 infections, according to information provided by flight tracking website FlightAware.

Around 3,000 flights were cancelled on Monday amid the busiest travel season of the year.

Several airlines were hit as their staff have been infected with the fast-spreading Omicron variant of Covid-19.

Around 8,000 flights were also cancelled globally between Christmas Eve and Boxing Day.

Some 3,000 of the cancelled flights were in or out of the United States, where the highly transmissible variant of COVID-19 is causing a record number of infections, according to flight-tracking website FlightAware.com.
