Strategic Trade Integration: Mapping India’s FTAs and CEPAs

by IN Bureau

India has built one of the world’s most active free-trade-agreement networks, moving from a cautious, selective approach before 2014 to a broad, strategic push for deeper economic integration with key partners across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, and the Indo-Pacific. Today, India has 17 finalized FTAs/CEPAs covering around 40 countries, with recent landmark deals such as those with the UAE, Australia, EFTA, the UK, Oman, the EU, and New Zealand designed to cut tariffs, open services markets, attract investment, and position Indian manufacturers and service providers more firmly in global value chains.
