Video emerges showing Pak Army torturing, killing innocents in Waziristan

In yet another dastardly act of violence committed by the Pakistani Army against the Pashtun minority, a gruesome video has emerged of soldiers torturing and killing innocent people in South Waziristan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.

The video which is going viral on social media was tweeted by Amir Maseed and showed brutally torturing and killing civilians.

"This happened in Shaktoi in Waziristan. In this video you can see Col Imran and Col Sulaiman of the Punjabi Regiment of Pakistan Army torture a innocent Pashtun while executing his brothers. They left him alive to warn his tribe of what happens when you speak against the army," tweeted Maseed.

The video shows several Pakistani soldiers walking around a pile of dead bodies lying on the road. One blindfolded man, probably the person who Maseed mentioned as being left alive, is inflicted a crushing flying kick by an army personnel.

The world has been taken aback by the gross human rights violations being perpetrated by Pakistan on its religious minorities in the past few months—from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) to Balochistan and the tribal regions of erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).

Just like the Baloch community, the Pashtun tribes have gone through unimaginable repression over the last few decades, be it at the hands of Islamist militant groups from Afghanistan or the Pakistani Army.

People trying to raise their voice against the atrocities are either put to rest by the gun shot or muted by the state-controlled media.

Mohsin Dawar, a lawyer-turned-member of the Pakistan National Assembly from North Waziristan, tried to talk about target killings and resurgence of militants in the region but his speech in the lower house of parliament was censored by national broadcaster PTV Thursday.

Already the community is deeply disturbed with the murder of Arif Wazir, a politician, activist, and one of the leaders of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) who was shot by "unidentified men" near his home in Wana, south Waziristan, last month.

The justice has been delayed, denied with not much hope of things changing in the immediate future..
