Trump may lose election but mainstream media has lost credibility

Donald Trump

The mainstream media (MSM) in America has proved to be incorrigible, refusing to see facts—which they don’t believe in anyway—and learn from their own mistakes. Their hatred for President Donald Trump has not just impaired their moral compass but also disrupted their cognition of the real world. This is the reason that they failed to gauge the support the incumbent enjoys among the electorate, including among the non-white communities which, top journalists said, hated him.

This is also the reason that the entire MSM hallucinated about a big blue wave, a devastation of Trump, if not of all Republicans. As it turned out, Trump is giving a tough fight to his Democratic opponent Joe Biden. Even if Biden wins, it won’t be a landslide.

Just a few days before the election, a CNN poll gave Biden a 12-per cent national lead over Trump. Another poll by ABC News/Washington Post said that Biden would have a cakewalk in Wisconsin; eventually it turned out to be a close race, though Biden emerged victorious. MSM accused Trump of taking the Republicans down with him. Sen. Lindsey Graham, the liberal-dominated media said, would lose in South Carolina’s US Senate race. But he trounced his Democratic opponent Jaime Harrison.

Trump was maligned as a racist who hated blacks and other non-whites. But as many as 18 per cent of black men reportedly voted for Trump; in 2016, it was 13 per cent; in the same period, his support base among black women went up from 4 per cent to 8 per cent in 2020. He is also said to have almost doubled gay voters’ share. Hispanics also supported him.

In Zapata County, Texas, he got 52 per cent vote. In this country, there are about 95 per cent Latinos. “The media were wrong because it was a mixture of wishful thinking and propaganda designed to influence the result. The people they most influenced were themselves and their leftist allies,” Media Research Center vice-president Dan Gainor told Fox News. The propaganda was not limited to just manipulating opinion polls; it included such unethical practices as suppressing or downplaying Biden’s racist remarks he made earlier, the sweetheart deals his family members (especially son Hunter) got when he was US vice-president, and his soft attitude towards China.

At the same time, MSM magnified Trump’s errors, invented his sins, gave credence to the false rumors about Russian influence, shamelessly blamed him for spreading the coronavirus (though the truth is that an early ban on travel from China saved many lives), and in general vilified him no end. Trump correctly called most of them “fake news.” MSM may be successful, for Trump may not get the second term, but he has surely succeeded in showing that they were mendacious and divorced from reality.
