Pakistani military has handed over land to China in Sindh and Balochistan: MQM leader

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has alleged that the powerful Pakistani army is giving away Sindh and Balochistan lands to China through the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.

In a report published by Indian news agency ANI, MQM leader Altaf Hussain says the Pakistani army "has agreed to place Sindh and Balochistan under the planned occupation of China" on the pretext of the CPEC".

The MQM leader, who is based in London, the UK, said: "the military establishment continues to enjoy unbridled powers and is looting the resources of these occupied territories".

He added that Pakistan has been driven to bankruptcy. The US, the UK, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and other donors are no longer helping out the country from its financial troubles. Pointing out the shortage of energy sources for the common people, Hussain said that the country is facing acute shortage of electricity, gas and petrol.

The MQM leader also spoke about the independence of Sindh from Pakistan.

Hussain said that the Sindhis will not get their legitimate rights as part of Pakistan. "The army has control over Sindh's resources, power, gas, oil, coal and all resources of Sindh. We will take back each yard of Sindh land from the occupiers and free Sindh from the slavery of Punjab", Hussain said.

Last month, the government had filed sedition cases against 21 students of the Sindh University (SU) for celebrating the Sindh Cultural Day on November 18 and carrying out a march in favour of an independent Sindh nation.

The Sindh province also faces the problems of enforced disappearances and State-sponsored kidnappings for which people have been raising their voices.

Many Sindhi nationalist parties have been supporting the Baloch nationalists against Islamabad and the CPEC projects. Despite the discontent against Pakistan, they have not been able to catalyse the Sindhudesh nation movement.
