Pakistan whitewashing deeds of its ‘death squads’ in Balochistan

Pakistan whitewashing deeds of its ‘death squads’ in Balochistan

The Pakistan government has launched an extensive campaign, through its military and media, to conceal its inhumane acts and policies in Balochistan, especially after the widely-publicized and much-denounced horrific act of violence involving a four-year-old and her mother in Makran.

As reported by India Narrative earlier, massive protests erupted in and around the Turbat town of Makran in Balochistan after ‘death squads’ shot dead a woman named Malik Naz and seriously wounded her child Bramsh Baloch on the night of May 26.

These squads are allegedly outsourced by the Pakistan Army and intelligence agencies to kill, abduct, and terrorize people in Balochistan.

Hashtag #JusticeForBramsh and pictures of injured Bramsh lying on hospital bed went viral on social media and caught world attention immediately.

Caught on the back foot, several attempts are now being made by the Pakistan government to hide the real identities of the victims.

Be it some media organizations falsely reporting little Bramsh as Zohra Shah or arresting peaceful protesters en masse, the deep state is making every effort to sweep the heinous act under the carpet.

However, the oppressed Baloch community is in no mood to take it lying down this time around. Hundreds of Baloch gathered outside the Karachi Press Club Friday — and many in Lahore too — in a protest rally organized by the Bramsh Baloch Solidarity Committee and backed by Baloch National Movement (BNM).

Outside Pakistan, the BNM is urging the international community, especially India and Bangladesh, to protect the Baloch people from Pakistan Army's 'death squads'.

"We know the mentality of Pakistan, Pakistan Army, military intelligence and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) as once this matter gets settled down, once the people go to their normal life, there will be another incident. Even when people are protesting in other parts of Balochistan, the incidents are happening. The people are going missing, there is looting going on and similar to this incident, which happened two weeks ago, a boy in Awaran was kidnapped and raped by a member of the local death squad," said Hakeem Baloch, President of BNM (UK chapter).

Hakeem said, "Pakistan Army has given them a free hand. You kill the people, we give you the task and you can do anything that you want. That includes burglary, drug dealing, drug trafficking, raping innocent children and women and abducting them. That includes every type of crime. That is why local people of Balochistan, the common people of Balochistan have awakened and they have begun a movement against this tyranny."

Representatives of Baloch Republican Party (BRP), including leader Mansoor Baloch, even went to the BBC headquarters in London Friday to "brief BBC administration" about the recent killing of Bramsh's mother and hand over a "letter detailing the lashkars operating under the shadow of the intelligence agencies in Balochistan."
