Pained by the tragic air crash in Nepal, says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep grief over the loss of lives due to an air crash in Nepal in which at least 68 people have been confirmed dead so far.

In a tweet, the PM Modi wrote: “Pained by the tragic air crash in Nepal in which precious lives have been lost, including Indian nationals. In this hour of grief, my thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families.”

Kathmandu Post reported Monday morning that rescuers are having a tough time retrieving the remaining bodies from the Yeti Airlines aircraft crash site in Pokhara of Kaski district in western Nepal.

“They resumed their attempts to pull bodies spotted on Seti River Gorge on Monday morning. The rescue efforts were put off till this morning,” leading Nepal daily reported.

The plane carried 72 persons, including passengers and crew, and 68 had been confirmed dead as of now, the country’s civil aviation regulator said in a statement.
