As India looks set to resume exports of Covid 19 vaccines, Bangladesh to be among the first countries to receive the jabs

Covid 19 vaccines: India to resume exports

Bangladesh will be one of the first countries that will receive Covid 19 vaccines from India as it is set to resume exports of the jab from October.

Sources said that the pace of vaccine drive has picked up considerably and if this continues, India would be able to resume exports of the jabs to its immediate neighbours.

India has already administered 80.5 crore Covid 19 vaccines.

Dhaka Tribune in a report said that India will give top priority to Bangladesh under its "neighbouring (countries will be) first” policy when the largest Covid-19 vaccine producing country is set to resume exports.

According to the newspaper, Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Vikram Doraiswami, said that the Indian health authorities made the announcement “in the context of the current inoculation totals achieved in India's current vaccination drive and the scaling-up of production in the country.”

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been underlining the need for all nations to work together to ensure availability of Covid 19 vaccines across the globe.
