The Konark Sun Temple is a thirteenth-century temple dedicated to the Sun God Surya. The marvelous architecture was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984.

Standing in front of the magnificent sun temple, IIT professor, Chetan Singh Solanki, who is promoting a radical shift in people's lives by promoting solar energy says that the sun is the reason for our existence on the planet. He wants people to make a concerted effort at tapping the original source of power – the sun – and reduce the catastrophic impacts of climate change and environmental degradation.

Prof. Solanki is on an India tour to promote solar energy through a specially-designed solar bus packed with solar training and demonstration facilities. It also houses facilities for living inside the bus. The India tour began in November 2020 and will run for 11 years, till December 2030, to campaign for tapping the sun's power as a public movement.
