Sweden suffers the consequences of placating Islamists

Burning of the Quran may be the trigger to the riots in the Swedish city of Malmo but the violence and virulence of radical Islam is not new to the country—indeed to the Scandinavian region. Last year, the peaceful, prosperous country was rocked by bomb blasts.

“Swedish police are dealing with unprecedented levels of attacks, targeting city centre locations too. The bomb squad was called to deal with 97 explosions in the first nine months of this year,” BBC reported on November 12, 2019.

This category of crime was not even logged prior to 2017. “Then, in 2018, there were 162 explosions and in the past two months alone the bomb squad have been called to almost 30,” the BBC report said.

Swedish police do not record or release the ethnicity of suspects or convicted criminals, but intelligence chief Linda H. Straaf was quoted as saying that many do share a similar profile. “They have grown up in Sweden and they are from socio-economically weak groups, socio-economically weak areas, and many are perhaps second- or third-generation immigrants.”

Saying that most of them were Muslims would have attracted the charge of racism, Islamophobia, etc., so she didn’t say that. In fact, she went to further placate intellectuals by claiming that it was “not correct” to suggest new arrivals are typically involved in gang networks.

“Another important layer of this story is how it has been covered by Swedish media,” the BBC report said. “After last month’s trio of attacks in Stockholm, public broadcaster SVT was accused of a Leftist cover-up for leaving the story out of a main evening news programme.”

Coming from the Left-leaning BBC, it surely was a pointer to the fact things have gone too far in Sweden, and the influence of Left-liberals has started bearing fruit—the poisonous fruit that has degraded decision makers, enfeebled the system, paralyzed law enforcement, and demoralized citizenry in general.

Politicians are afraid to take a tough stand against Islamists and jihadists for fear of being called racist, bigoted, and communal. The result? The administration, cops, and security personnel have few means to check the crimes and misdemeanors of fanatical Muslims.

It's little wonder that right-minded people are bewildered and angry that their way of life is being destroyed, their hard-earned and traditional freedoms like freedom of expression are being encroached upon by Islamists. Worse, Islamists are unrelenting in making demands and ruthless in the methods they adopt in getting things done their own way. My way or the highway.

Such are the perils of succumbing to the Islamist pressure..
