Two Lashkar terrorists, who had escaped from an encounter, killed at Budgam in Kashmir

Two armed terrorists of Lashkar-e-Tayyiba (LeT) have been killed in a brief encounter with the security forces at Budgam in Central Kashmir.

Officials said that LeT’s Pulwama-based cadres Arbaz Mir and Shahid Sheikh were traveling from district headquarters of Budgam towards Soibug when an Army nake outside the District Court stopped their vehicles. They opened fire but both were killed in quick retaliation. One AK rifle and one pistol were recovered from them.

According to the officials, both the terrorists, wearing the Kashmiri cloak ‘Pheran’, had escaped from an encounter recently. Police said that the security forces intercepted the vehicle after receiving information about the movement of the two terrorists.

It was not immediately clear whether they were on a routine transit from Budgam to Soibug or they were going on some terror mission.

It is for the first time in the last 30 years that an encounter has taken place at the usually peaceful Budgam township and any terrorists have been killed there.
