Young batting star Yashasvi Jaiswal, who took India to victory in the T20I against West Indies on Saturday, has broken Rohit Sharma’s over 13-year-old record as the youngest Indian batter to score 75 plus runs in a T20I match.
Rohit was 23 years and 7 days old when he scored an unbeaten 79 against Australia in Bridgetown in 2010.
Yashasvi, who hit 11 fours and smashed 3 sixes in his unbeaten 84 off 47 balls, was 21 years and 227 days old when he crossed the 75-run mark.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill ripped through the West Indies attack to put up a partnership of 165 runs as India chased a target of 179 set by the host country. They ended up equalling the record for the highest ever T20I opening partnership for India before Gill fell on 77 off 47 balls. The opening partnership ended up producing 165 runs. Jaiswal chased down the target and finished unbeaten on 84 as India won the match in 17 overs
