Smoke in cabin and cockpit forces SpiceJet plane to make emergency landing at Hyderabad

The passengers of a SpiceJet plane travelling from Goa to Hyderabad faced a scary and tense situation as the craft made an emergency landing at the destination airport after smoke was seen coming out of the cabin and cockpit during the descent.

The incident took place on Wednesday night.

Fortunately, the plane landed safely and all the passengers got out through the emergency exit. The airport official at Hyderabad said that in all there were 86 passengers onboard the Q400 aircraft VT-SQB and following this incident that happened at 11 p.m., nine flights were diverted.

The airline has been facing financial and operational problems recently. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation had directed the airline to operate only 50 per cent of its total flights till October 29.

A DGCA official today said the regulator is probing the incident.
