RPG used in Punjab Police’s Intelligence Headquarters attack was meant to kill Sidhu Moosewala

Sidhu Moosewala was the original target of the Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG), smuggled into India through Pakistan that was eventually used to blow the Punjab Police’s Intelligence Headquarters in Mohali last year. These shocking revelations were made by jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi to Delhi police during an interrogation, according to the sources.

“The RPG was supplied by Khalistani terrorist Harwinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda and was originally meant to be used to kill Sidhu Moosewala when he was at a public rally or event,” said the sources adding that the perpetrators altered their plan, fearing a higher casualty count if the attack occurred during a gathering or meeting. The alleged gangsters and terrorists opted to target the Mohali headquarters instead on May 9, 2022. Singer and Congress leader Moosewala was shot dead on May 29, 2022 in Jawaharke village of Mansa in Punjab.

Rinda had reportedly enlisted members of Bishnoi’s gang to carry out the operation. Further investigation uncovered that Canada-based fugitive terrorist Lakhbir Singh Landa had collaborated with Rinda, sharing manpower, logistics, and resources and he was also the second in command.

Rinda had previously been linked to a grenade attack at the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) office in Nawanshahr, Punjab, as well as the arrest of four suspected terrorists with ties to Pakistan in Haryana’s Karnal earlier in the same year.

According to the police sources, the RPG was illicitly smuggled into India through the Pakistan border, implicating the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The RPG attack in Mohali on May 9, 2022, was planned by Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operatives backed by Pakistan’s ISI and local gangsters, the official said. The police identified the attackers as Deepak, from village Surakhpur in Haryana, and a minor, who was arrested five months after the attack. It has been found that the attack was orchestrated by gangster-turned-terrorist Rinda.

It may be noted that Punjab Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) had last month arrested six associates of Rinda and recovered five pistols along with ammunition from their possession. It was revealed that arrested persons were involved in criminal activities including murder, attempt to murder, extortion, dacoity, inter-state gun running, etc and were planning to commit sensational crimes in the state.
