KG Kenye

Rajya Sabha MP from Nagaland, K.G. Kenye, has thanked the Chennai Police for providing timely assistance to 64 people from the north-eastern states who were stranded in Tamil Nadu due to Covid-19 lockdown in the entire nation.

Kenye had got in touch with the Chennai Police after several videos and messages went viral on social media showing the plight of these stranded people who wanted to return home.

Kenye's PRO Dr. Naresh Ram, currently stationed in Chennai, went to Chennai's Pallikaranai and found out that out of the 64 people, 63 are from Assam and one lady is from Nagaland's Peren district. Assam's Resident Commissioner in Chennai also came forward to help as arrangements for everyone's accommodation was made immediately.

Kenye thanked Chennai Police officers and the Tamil Nadu government for the cooperation and said that Dr Ram is available in Chennai to support the people of the north-east who've been affected by the lockdown.
