Mercury plunges to 6 degrees in Delhi, Himachal freezes at -6.9 degrees as cold wave intensifies

With the cold wave intensifying in the northern states, the minimum temperature in Delhi plunged to six degrees Celsius on Saturday while the maximum temperature is not expected to exceed 19 degrees Celsius, according to the weather department.</p>
<p>
A cloak of dense fog engulfed the national capital in the morning reducing visibility to a few metres.</p>

The cold wave sweeping the north saw temperatures Himachal Pradesh falling to sub zero levels with Keylong recording lowest temperature at -6.9 degrees Celsius. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday predicted cold to severe cold day conditions for some parts of Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh during the next 24 hours.</p>
<p>
"Dense to Very Dense Fog Conditions likely in isolated/some parts in night/morning hours over Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, north Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh during next 3 days," the weather bulletin read.</p>
