Killer of Udaipur tailor paid extra cash to get number 2611 for his bike to match date of Mumbai terror attacks

Police investigations into the brutal killing of Udaipur tailor Kanhaiya Lal have revealed one of the accused Riyaz Attari had deposited an extra Rs 5,000 to get a registration for his motorcycle with the number 2611, a date linked to the Mumbai terror attacks on Nov 26, 2011.

Sources said that Riyaz's bike, was bought by him to remember the terror attack in Mumbai on November 26, 2011. The police team is working on collecting further details of the purchase of the motorcycle number RJ 27 AS 2611 and how the accused took the special number in 2013. Police believe the number plate could provide vital clues to what Riyaz has been planning since 2014. Riyaz's passport reveals that he visited Nepal in 2014. His phone record also shows that he used to make calls to people in Pakistan.

The two men were trying to escape on this bike when they were caught at a police barricade in the Rajsamand district about 45 km from Udaipur. The vehicle was used by the two killers Gos Mohammad and Riyaz Akhtari to escape after brutally cutting the throat of the tailor with a cleaver. The ruthless killers had filmed the murder and then bragged about on social media as an act of revenge for the insult of Prophet Mohammad.

The two accused were produced in court amid heavy security yesterday. The court sent them to judicial custody for 14 days. Crowds raised slogans against the two on the Udaipur court premises. The city continues to be under curfew.
