For the first time this year, people in Kashmir have ventured out not with sessionist slogans but with the Indian flag. Many homes belonging to former or active militants are hoisting the Indian flag. The families of militants

Till now such was the fear among the people of the Valley that they would not host the tricolour. However, this time the mood is different.

Even the J&K Police has been holding special Tiranga marches as part of the Azadi ka amrit Mahotsav celebrations. The government too has organised various events to celebrate the Independence Day in the state.

With the government going strong on the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign across the country, Kashmir too is not far behind. With the government making a strenuous effort to reach out to the people with development programmes and investment opportunities across the state, there is a change in people's mood across the state.

Families of militants who were part of dreaded outfits like the Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen too hoisted the national flag at their homes.
