Delhi is in the grip of a cold wave as the minimum temperature plunged to 3.8 degrees Celsius on Friday morning, according to the India Meteorological Department

Delhi is in the grip of a cold wave as the minimum temperature plunged to 3.8 degrees Celsius on Friday morning, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The maximum temperature is likely to settle at around 19 degrees Celsius and there will be shallow fog, it said.

This is the second day in a row when mercury has plunged to sub 4 degrees as on Thursday, too, the minimum temperature had dropped sharply to 3.4 degrees Celsius from 8.4 degrees on Wednesday.

The cold wave conditions are likely to persist for the next few days, according to the IMD forecast.

Delhi had also experienced cold wave conditions on December 20 when the minimum temperature had fallen 3.2 degrees Celsius and December 21 4 degrees Celsius.
