Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)  Rajya Sabha member Anil Baluni has extended a helping hand to an indigent family from Uttarakhand.
The family lost it's lone earning member Kundan Singh, 56, yesterday. Kundan, who had come to the national capital from Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand in March, seeking greener pastures, almost every night slept in his tempo.
He died when heavy rain lashed the national capital, drowning his tempo. He is survived by wife Munni Devi and two daughters, aged 12 and 24 years.
Baluni raised the demand for financial assistance to the family and job to one of its members. He also talked to Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, following which the L-G agreed to lend a helping hand to the family.
Earlier, Baluni had urged Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal to help bring back the people of Uttarakhand, stranded in other states due to the Covid-19 induced lockdown..
