Bhubaneswar-Jamshedpur-Kolkata daily flight starts under cheap fare Udan scheme

Union Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya M. Scindia today inaugurated a daily flight connecting Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, and Jamshedpur.

IndiaOne Air has started operating the daily flight under the regional connectivity scheme UDAN.

The aircraft of IndiaOne Air took off at 7.30 am from the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar and landed at the Sonari airport in Jamshedpur. From Jamshedpur, the flight went to Kolkata.

According to the airfares fixed by the Ahmedabad-headquartered IndiaOne Air, the all-inclusive fare for the flight from Bhubaneswar to Jamshedpur is Rs 2999, while the air ticket from Jamshedpur to Kolkata costs Rs 1999. These fares are applicable under the special offer open till Feb 14.

In his inaugural address, the minister said that it is an auspicious moment that three important cities of three different states are being connected through this network of flights. It reflects the Prime Minister’s vision of providing air connectivity to every corner of the country.

Earlier airlines were closing one by one, but now the UDAN scheme has given birth to three new regional airlines. Before 2014 there were only 74 operational airports in the country. Now after the initiation of commercial operations at Jamshedpur, it has increased to 147 and it will touch 148 after the inauguration of commercial operations at Shivamogga airport, Karnataka in February 2023.

UDAN is a regional connectivity scheme spearheaded by the Government of India. The full form of UDAN is ‘Ude Desh ka Aam Nagarik’ and aims to develop smaller regional airports to allow common citizens easier access to aviation services.
