Armed robbers in four vehicles chased two businessmen in a car on the Pune-Solapur highway and looted Rs 3.6 crore in hard cash from them
The robbers first tried to stop the businessmen’s car when it slowed down near a speed-breaker near Indapur in Maharashtra’s Pune district around 2 am on Friday, according to the police complaint.
Four unidentified men carrying iron rods approached their car and tried to stop it, but they managed to speed away.
The robbers then started chasing them in two cars and two motorcycles. Those on the motorcycles fired at their car, bringing it to a halt. The robbers then beat up the two businessmen and fled with the cash in their car, police said.
The fact that the two businessmen – Bhavesh Kumar Patel and Vijaybhai – were carrying such a huge amount of cash in a car is also been investigated as it is suspected that the money could be linked to a hawala racket.
