3 gunmen of Lawrence Bishnoi gang arrested after shootout

Three gunmen of the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang were arrested on Thursday evening following a shootout with the police in Rajasthan’s Ganganagar close to the Punjab border.

According to the police, the gang had been trying to extort money from a local businessman. Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother, Anmol had threatened the businessman over the phone to pay up the money before sending two of his gangsters to his house, the police said.

The police team tracking the phone calls,  managed to trace three members of the gang, all believed to be residents of Punjab’s Fazilka district. However, an investigation revealed that the criminals were hiding in Ganganagar.

The gangsters opened fire when the police team arrived to arrest them. The trio was arrested after an exchange of fire and one of the criminals sustained a bullet wound in the leg.  He has been admitted to a government hospital for treatment.

According to the police, the three criminals were following orders from Anmol Bishnoi.

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang was involved in the killing of popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala and have also been sending threatening messages to Bollywood actor Salman Khan that he would meet the same fate.
