A fire broke out in a multi-storey parking lot in Delhi on Monday, in which 21 cars were gutted. According to Delhi Fire Services officials, the incident took place at Subhash Nagar in West Delhi.

Police are analysing the CCTV footage which shows a person moving around suspiciously at the parking facility. The police are reported to have identified the person.

“Multiple teams have been formed to investigate the exact cause of incident,” a police official said.

Fire officials said six fire engines were rushed to the spot after a call was received around 4am.

The fire was brought under control by 6:10 am and no casualties were reported. The fire is reported to have started in the basement of the three-tier car parking.

Delhi Fire Services officials said that the no objection certificate (NOC) of the building had expired and no system was found in working condition.

According to the police, the registration details of 14 cars have been traced.

Delhi BJP working president Virendra Sachdeva, who visited the multi-storey car parking, said it’s a “serious matter” and said he will be speaking to the MCD chief about the incident.
