11 workers charred to death as massive blaze guts godown at Secunderabad in Telangana

Blazing fire in Secundrabad led to death of 11 workers

Eleven workers were charred to death in a massive fire that broke out in a scrap godown at Secunderabad in Telangana in the wee hours on Wednesday morning.

Most of these victims are reported to be migrant labourers from Bihar. Two of the workers managed to escape and one of them has been admitted to a hospital. The 13 men were working in the godown on the ground floor and were living on the first floor. They were caught unawares as the incident occurred at around 4 am in the morning when they were fast asleep.

While the exact reason for the blaze is still not known, the fire was accompanied by a LPG cylinder blast.

Telangana minister Talasani Srinivas visited the spot and said that an investigation has been ordered into the tragedy. Help would be extended to the families of the victims, he added.
