India’s daily count of fresh Covid cases drops to 18-month low

India’s daily count of new COVID-19 cases fell significantly to 6,822 over the last 24 hours, which is the lowest in over 18 months, statistics released by the Union health ministry on Tuesday morning show.

On Monday, 8,306 new cases had been reported.  The number of new daily cases of coronavirus infections has been recorded below 10,000 for 11 consecutive days now.

Meanwhile, the number of deaths recorded due to the disease in the last 24 hours was put at 220.

A decrease of 3,402 cases has also been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in the last 24 hours. India's active caseload currently stands at 95,014 which is the lowest in the last 554 days

The Recovery Rate is currently at 98.36%, the highest since March 2020, as per health ministry data.

So far, 128.76 crore vaccine doses have been administered in the country.

India’s vaccination drive crossed another important milestone on Monday with over 50% of the eligible population now being fully vaccinated.

Amongst states, Himachal Pradesh has become the first in the country to administer the second dose of Covid-19 to all its eligible citizens.
