Delhi leads among big cities in vaccinations with over 2 crore shots, Chennai & Hyderabad lag

Delhi became the first Indian city to administer 2 crore vaccine doses against Covid-19, Mumbai comes in at the second spot with the total vaccination count at 1.43 crore doses.

Delhi became the first Indian city to administer 2 crore vaccine doses against Covid-19, reaching the landmark on Saturday, two days after the country achieved the historic feat of 100 crore vaccinations.

Mumbai comes in at the second spot with the total vaccination count at 1.43 crore doses. Bengaluru is a close third with 1.29 crore doses followed by Pune which has administered 1.19 crore shots.

Among the metropolitan cities Chennai has emerged as the laggard with only 69.93 lakh vaccine doses having been administered. Hyderabad trails among the big cities with a mere 48.52 lakh shots having been given till Saturday.  

While Delhi leads in the total number of jabs that have been administered, it also has a much larger population than Mumbai. The figures also show that in terms of percentage of the total eligible population that has been inoculated, Mumbai is ahead with 57.1% of the total adult population having been fully vaccinated as compared to 47.7% in the case of Delhi.

Besides, in Mumbai, 96.4% of all eligible beneficiaries have got at least one dose of the vaccine while the corresponding figure for Delhi is 85.9%.
