Delhi reported 86 fresh COVID-19 cases on Saturday, the highest in five months, which is a worrying figure as the numbers have started to steadily rise amid a worldwide alert over the heavily mutated Omicron variant.

The positivity rate – the share of COVID-19 tests that come back positive – stood at 0.13 per cent.

There are currently 484 active COVID-19 patients in Delhi with 203 in home isolation.

Meanwhile, 7,145 new cases of COVID-19 were reported nationwide in the last 24 hours, figures compiled by the Union Health Ministry showed.

India’s active caseload is presently at 84,565. This is the lowest in 569 days.

The vaccination drive against COVID-19 in the country is also progressing at a steady drive with 62,06,244 doses being administered in the last 24 hours. This takes the total vaccination coverage past the 136.66 crore mark.

More than 90% adults in India have now been administered at least one vaccine dose while over 50% have got both the doses.
