The video of a woman using ChatGPT, a chatbot developed by OpenAI that answers questions posed to it in a conversational way, to write an email to an airline complaining about an over 6-hour delay in her flight has triggered a debate on social media over AI.
While there were some who were simply awed by the incident, others expressed concern over the setback that this could cause to human thinking and learning.
“The human ability to think, articulate and communicate will be lost in the next decade…machines will determine our responses and actions. The repercussions beyond just lost jobs..how can people be amazed at this,” wrote one user.
Another said: “And RIP to human brains and learning.”
A third user joked, “Plot twist: The airline reply is also an automated AI response.”
