Watch: Leopard leaps to kill prey

Leopards with their sharp claws and canine are very capable hunters but they also need to be opportunistic and versatile predators to make a kill.

Indian Forest Officer, Susanta Nanda’s post on Twitter shows this vividly.

Video:

The viral video starts with the leopard climbing the tree in pursuit of a monkey, who escapes by moving to a branch of another tree. Seeing that the leopard quickly jumps down to follow and dashes to the other tree from where again the monkey leaps. This time instead of going down, the leopard adopts the monkey style to spring forth and grab its prey.

Many viewers praised the animal and its ability to hunt in air, land and water while some wondered if it wouldn’t get hurt falling from such heights.
