Video: Rishabh Pant hits England pace ace for 14 runs in 3 balls to revive India as top batters collapse in Test

Rishabh Pant hits a shot off Jack Leach.

India was at the receiving end on the first day of the 5th Test with England at Edgbaston with an abysmal 98 runs for the loss of the team’s top 5 batsmen, but Rishabh Pant hit back in his characteristic aggressive style.

He counter attacked England’s pace offensive to gain the psychological advantage, hitting ace pacer John Leach for two fours and a six off three consecutive balls.

Pant went on to make his half-century off just 51 deliveries at the Tea break.

He had hit six boundaries which included a 6, taking India to a more respectable 174/5 at the tea break. Ravindra Jadeja was batting on 32, while Pant was on 53.

The counter- offensive came as a welcome relief immediately after India lost key batsman Hanuma Vihari and Virat Kohli in quick succession.
