Video: Moment PM Modi releases Cheetahs from Africa on Indian soil

Prime Minister gives a thumbs up after releasing the cheetahs in the Kuno National Park

The video shows Prime Minister Narendra Modi, attired in a safari hat and jacket on his birthday, releasing the cheetahs from Namibia into a special enclosure in Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park on Saturday. The move is part of a government project to revive the species in India after it went extinct seven decades ago.

The Prime Minister is also seen clicking photographs to capture the majestic moment of the Cheetahs stepping out on Indian soil.

The cheetahs appear a little stiff after the long plane journey from Africa to Gwalior from where they were brought by Indian Air Force helicopters to Kuno National Park.

The eight cheetahs – five females and three males – will be kept in the quarantine enclosure for about a month before being released in the open forest areas of the park.
