Sam Curran & Cameron Green picked at record-breaking prices in IPL auction

England’s star all-rounder Sam Curran and Australia’s Cameron Green smashed the all-time Indian Premier league (IPL) auction record as they were picked for Rs 18.50 crore and Rs 17.50 crore respectively.

Curran who was part of the England team that won the 2022 T20 World Cup, and named Player of the Tournament, was selected by Punjab Kings. Green was chosen by Mumbai Indians.

England star Ben Stokes was close behind as Chennai Super Kings paid a handsome Rs 13.25 crore for him while Harry Brook Rs 13.25 crore to play for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

West Indies wicketkeeper Nicholas Pooran was sold to Lucknow Supergiants for Rs 16 crore.

Amongst the Indian players that sprang a surprise were uncapped pacer Shivam Mavi, who was picked by Gujarat Titans for Rs 6 crore, and Mukesh Kumar was chosen by Delhi Capitals for Rs 5.50 crore.

SRH also paid Rs 8.25 crore for Mayank Agarwal while Reece Topley was selected by RCB for Rs 1.90 crore.

Sunrisers Hyderabad also paid Rs 2 crore for England spinner Adil Rashid to play for their side.

This year’s auction will see 405 players going under the hammer.
