Sachin Tendulkar tested positive for Covid-19

India’s cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar on Friday confirmed that he has been admitted to hospital as a precautionary measure. Sachin had tested positive for Covid-19 on March 27 and had been in home quarantine.

The 47-year-old took to twitter to announce the development on Friday.

"Thank you for your wishes and prayers. As a matter of abundant precaution under medical advice, I have been hospitalised. I hope to be back home in a few days. Take care and stay safe everyone," Tendulkar tweeted.

He also took the opportunity to, “Wish all Indians and my teammates on the 10th anniversary of our World Cup win. “

Tendulkar had said on Saturday (March 27)  that he had contracted Covid-19 and has mild symptoms as infections continued to surge in country.

Tendulkar had hung up his boots in 2013 after scoring a record 100 international centuries in a trail blazing 24-year career.

“I have been testing myself and taking all the recommended precautions to ensure Covid is kept at bay. However, I have tested positive today following mild symptoms,” Tendulkar had said at the time.

“All others at home have tested negative. I have quarantined myself at home and I am following all the necessary protocols as advised by my doctors.”

Tendulkar lives in Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra which has been the hardest hit state in the second Covid-19 wave.
