Karnataka’s Nandi Hills undergoes makeover for G20 delegates and tourists

With the objective of attracting tourists, both from India and abroad, Karnataka is going whole hog to give Nandi Hills a makeover. More so since Karnataka is hosting 14 G20 meetings from December 13 to 17 and delegates will be visiting this tourist destination.

The State Tourism Department in its plan to give a facelift to Nandi Hills will be illuminating the fort walls there at night while forest walk will be started again and the roads around the hills be repaired and improved.

Talking to the media, Kapil Mohan, the Additional Chief Secretary, Tourism Department, informed that though Nandi Hills is being spruced up for G20, it will benefit the tourists also. To ensure this, the eating outlets and accommodation at the hills are being improved and Vanatha Mantappa and Bhoga Nandeeshwara temple have been cleaned up. The Archaeological Survey of India’s assistance is being sought for improvements in the Bhoga Nandeeshwara temple and Hampi, the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Night visits to Hampi will be arranged for the convenience of the tourists while discussions are on with ASI to use the area located outside the Bhoga Nandeeshwara temple for holding dance recitals and cultural programmes for the G20 delegates and also on other special occasions.
