Japanese Ambassador enjoys Mumbai’s local train travel!

Moving away from the plush air conditioned offices meeting officials and having discussions, Hiroshi Suzuki, the Japanese Ambassador to India mingled with common folks of Mumbai and even travelled like them in a local train.

Posting a picture of him standing at the gate of the train, he wrote: “I’m in Mumbai.”

That is not all. Suzuki also went around like Mumbaikars looking for some fantastic deals while shopping in the local market. In another tweet he is seen admiring white shirts priced at Rs.100 each. Incidentally, he is sure to have been amused by the “Fixed Price” tag underneath the price!

Well, it was not all play and no work for the Ambassador. He called on Eknath Shinde, Maharashtra Chief Minister. He wrote that they “had fruitful discussions on strengthening Japan-Maharashtra economic cooperation and people-to-people exchange”.

The Ambassador also visited the Trans Harbour Link office on the site. This is a six-lane, access-controlled expressway grade road bridge, connecting Mumbai and Navi Mumbai is being financed by Japan. Appreciating it he wrote in his Tweet along with pictures: “WOW! Is this real? What a grand project!”
