Is this MS Dhoni’s last IPL season?

Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has dropped a hint that this may be the last Indian Premier League season he is playing.

Deeply touched by the standing ovation from the home crowd when he came out of the dugout after CSK convincingly defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL match on Friday, Dhoni said, “All said and done, it’s the last phase of my career, however long I play.”

“After two years, the fans have had the opportunity to come here and watch, feels good to be here. Crowd has given us a lot of love and affection,” said Dhoni after the match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Dhoni, the ‘Captain Cool’ of Indian cricket, has been playing in the IPL league since the first season in 2008. Though he retired from international cricket in 2020 itself, he has not announced his retirement from the IPL till now. There is speculation is rife that Dhoni might announce his retirement from the IPL after this year’s season.

Though age is not on his side at 41, many think he is still fit enough to play for many more years.

Recently, former Australia batter Shane Watson said that Dhoni is fit to play for the next 3 to 4 years and is the main reason that Chennai Super Kings is successful.
