Indian billionaire Adar Poonawalla urges tennis great Djokovic to get vaccinated

Serum Institute of India CEO Adar Poonawalla on Friday urged world tennis champion Novak Djokovic to change his mind and get vaccinated against COVID-19

Serum Institute of India CEO Adar Poonawalla on Friday urged world tennis champion Novak Djokovic to change his mind and get vaccinated against COVID-19. India’s vaccine tsar admitted that he was a fan of the Serbian superstar and posted a video of himself playing tennis along with his request.

"I respect your personal views on not getting vaccinated @DjokerNole and love watching you play, but I hope you change your mind. In the meantime, the rest of us now might stand a chance at a Grand Slam," Poonawalla tweeted.

The 20-time Grand Slam winner had been deported from Australia  amid a massive controversy for not being vaccinated and missed the Australian Open tournament.

In a recent interview with the BBC he said he was even willing to give up tournaments such as the French Open and Wimbledon if the organisers insist on him being vaccinated.

"That is the price I am willing to pay because the principles of decision making on my body are more important than any title or anything else," he said.
