India celebrates gold rush at CWG as Sindhu and Lakshya triumph

<p>
<strong>Star shuttlers P V Sindhu and Lakshya Sen clinched gold in their respective badminton singles finals on a remarkable Monday afternoon for the Indian contingent at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games.</strong></p>
<p>
P V Sindhu won her first Commonwealth Games gold medal after defeating Canada's Michelle Li in straight games of the women's singles final.</p>
<p>
Young sensation Lakshya Sen clinched the gold medal after making a solid comeback, winning 2-1 (19-21 21-9 21-16) against Malayasia's Tze Yong.</p>

<p>
Sindhu beat Li 21-15, 21-13 to win her third CWG medal, another addition to her long list of monumental achievements. The 27-year-old had won a bronze at 2014 Glasgow Games and followed it up with a silver in the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.</p>
<p>
This was also India's 19th gold medal in the current edition of the Games.</p>
