England beat Pakistan to clinch T20 World Cup final

Big-hitting batter Ben Stokes scored an unbeaten 52 off 49 balls to take England past Pakistan’s total of 137 with five wickets in hand and 6 balls to spare in the final match of T20 World Cup 2022 on Sunday.

Earlier, Sam Curran returned with a spell of 3 for 12 and Adil Rashid picked 2 for 22 as England restricted Pakistan to 137 for 8.

England skipper Jos Buttler had won the toss and opted to bowl first in the game at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Pakistan batted poorly but bowled well to take the early wickets they needed with Haris Rauf’s 2 for 23 and the game was building towards a thriller. However, Stokes stood firm and came up with a brilliant knock when it was needed most for his side.

This is the second T20 World Cup title for England.
